Who are we?

The Swedish Armed Forces Internal Audit reports directly to the agency management – the Supreme Commander and the Director General. Our mission is to create value through independent auditing, advisory services, and the development of internal control and governance.

We are a team of ten experienced employees with both civilian and military backgrounds. Together, we combine broad competence, high integrity, and a strong commitment to the development of the operations.

Main Responsibilities

As an internal auditor, you review and evaluate how the Swedish Armed Forces govern, develop, and follow up on its operations. You work with issues that have significant importance for the agency's ability to fulfill its mission – today and in the future.

You lead and participate in audit assignments, identify risks, and analyze complex operational issues. The role also involves providing advice and support to the operations, as well as presenting conclusions and recommendations to both managers and agency leadership.

• Plan, conduct, and report on audit reviews
• Analyze risks and contribute to the internal audit planning
• Follow developments within the Swedish Armed Forces and the external environment
• Provide advice and support regarding governance, control, and risk management
• Conduct training and information sessions within the agency
• Present reports and recommendations to operations and management

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

• University degree in economics, law, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer
• Current and relevant experience in internal audit from large-scale operations
• Good knowledge of Swedish and English – both spoken and written

As an internal auditor, your integrity is crucial. You can act independently, make objective assessments, and at the same time build good relationships. You appreciate complex issues and want to contribute to the development of both the operations and the internal audit's working methods.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Relevant experience from a government agency
• Certification in internal audit, e.g., CIA
• Experience from the Swedish Armed Forces
• Experience leading or coordinating others
• Experience in risk analysis work and risk methodology
• Relevant experience in investigative work
• Experience in IT audit, data analysis, or analytical audit tools

Employment type: Civil position, permanent employment. If you are not currently permanently employed by the Swedish Armed Forces, a 6-month probationary period applies.

Location: Stockholm – travel is part of the role

Information about the recruiting unit:

The Supreme Commander and the Director General are located at the Headquarters. The Headquarters has approximately 1,000 employees – both career officers and civilian experts. As of 2023-01-01, the Headquarters consists of the Defense Staff, the Operations Command, the Military Intelligence and Security Service, as well as the Headquarters Staff Department and independent units for supervision.

An employment with us involves placement in a security classification. Swedish citizenship is usually required. Security clearance with register check will be conducted prior to employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Employment entails an obligation to be war-placed. The employment also includes an obligation to serve abroad. The meaning of this varies depending on the type of position. A CV and cover letter must be attached to the application for employment.
